But You should not take Truvada if you are allergic to emtricitabine or tenofovir. Do not take Truvada if you also take other medicines that contain emtricitabine, tenofovir, lamivudine, or adefovir. If you use Truvada to reduce your risk of HIV infection: You must have a negative HIV test immediately before you start taking the medicine. To make sure Truvada is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:liver or kidney disease;osteopenia (low bone mineral density); or if you also have hepatitis B infection.

I have not herad about it and i'm not sure that it really works. i dont think that there can be some useful method that will prevent HIV. it's impossible and not right. i think that the best way to prevent yourself from hiv is condom, yes it is very simple and not so expensive but it will definitely help you . and what i want to advice more is to take care more discretion in choosing your sex partner. if will do it then there no reasons to worry.

I have some information about it. Truvada is a type of medicine called a nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor that is used to treat HIV-1 infection in adults and teenagers (12 and older). Truvada is a combination therapy because it has 2 medicines in 1 pill– emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. Truvada is always used with other anti-HIV medicines to treat HIV-1 infection because Truvada alone is not a complete treatment.

Hello. I have not heard anything about such a medicine. Honestly, I have never encountered in my time people who are sick with this terrible HIV disease. I hope and never will collide. Of course, who probably suffers this disease himself or he has such acquaintances, knows more about possible treatments or some drugs. I'm not strong in this area. It's terrible that there are such diseases that are included in the group of the incurable. Although sometimes there are cases of recovery, but this is very rare, and is considered a miracle.

The drug was studied as a

The drug was studied as a preventive agent for HIV infection. Cochrane studies have shown that tenofovir alone and in combination with emtricitabine significantly reduces the risk of HIV infectionthe Antiretroviral Drugs Committee recommended that the FDA prescribe the drug to uninfected men who have sex with several male partners.  the FDA recommended the use of a combination of tenofovir / emtricitabine to reduce the risk of HIV infection.

The drug has the following side effects: nausea, vomiting, dizziness, decreased appetite, diarrhea, the drug is toxic to the liver and kidneys and causes a decrease in bone density.

Tenofovir is mainly excreted

Tenofovir is mainly excreted by the kidneys, both by filtration and by the active tubular transport system. Approximately 70-80% of the administered dose is excreted unchanged in urine after intravenous administration.

The observed clearance of tenofovir was, on average, about 307 ml / min. The renal clearance was approximately 210 ml / min, which exceeds the glomerular filtration rate. This indicates that active tubular secretion is an important part of the tenofovir withdrawal process. After oral administration, the half-life of tenofovir is approximately 12-18 hours.

A double-blind, randomized,

A double-blind, randomized, multicentre, placebo-controlled study of the drug showed that daily single use of emtricitabine / tenofovir and lopinavir / ritonavir or reinforced atazanavir or efavirenz were effective as first drugs for HIV-1 treatment.
In other randomized trials, emtricitabine / tenofovir at a dosage of 200 mg / 300 mg once daily was effective as the first drug in the treatment of HIV-1.
Emtricitabine / tenofovir in combination with protease inhibitors were well tolerated by adult HIV-infected patients.
