Candy and other sweets

Hi guys. I want to know one simple thing - candy and sweets can be really harmful to the body? I just can not imagine my life without sweets. I believe that our sweet makes life much better every day. In addition, it can lift your mood really fast. I think that is a good way to get rid of depression or even a headache when you eat even a little sweet. All of this is really good, anyway. Just my partner all the time trying to limit me in everything. But worst of all, he is trying to limit me in sweet. What can I do with this? Can I tell my partner that this is not so bad? Or should I leave the sweet? I do not want to brake with my partner( B)

Candy may be sweet, but sugar isn't an ingredient in the recipe for long-term health and disease prevention. Refined sugar goes by many names; high fructose corn syrup, sucrose and dextrose are just a few. It's in many processed and homemade candies and desserts as well as sugary drinks such as soda, which could even be called "liquid candy." While sugar occurring naturally in fruit, vegetables and whole grains is healthy, extracted, refined sugar has many disadvantages to human health. Understanding these may motivate you to reduce your sugar intake and reap the benefits of improved health. B) :)

According to Harvard School of Public Health, regularly consuming sugary foods and drinks increases your risk of heart disease. Sugar's acid-forming effect increases inflammation in the body, which can lead to gout in the long term. Candy and sweets increase insulin levels, putting you at a greater risk of developing diabetes. Eating candy and sweets as part of your diet adds a lot of empty calories to your daily caloric intake, which can easily cause excess weight gain and lead to obesity. A study published in the "Journal of Nutrition" found that the disease notorious for being caused by alcoholism, fatty liver disease, can also be due to prolonged consumption of refined fructose, found in many candies and sweets. :woohoo:

The American Dental Association warns against the consumption of candy and sweets because of the immediate effects they have on the teeth. When plaque from food and sugar from candy, baked goods or sugary drinks make contact in your mouth, an acidic reaction occurs. This acid attacks the teeth, causing them to decay. Over time, this can lead to cavities. Candy, baked sweets, soda and other sugary drinks hinder the function of your immune system, making you more susceptible to colds, flus and other viruses. A 1973 study at Loma Linda University showed that sugar suppresses white blood cells from attacking harmful bacteria in the body for at least five hours after consumption.

Scientists gave participants 100 grams of sugar mixed with some bacteria. They drew the participants' blood and compared it to those who had consumed unsweetened starch with bacteria. Those who had consumed sugar had more bacteria, because the white blood cells, which fight off bacteria, weren't doing their job as well. Especially during cold and flu season, cut back on refined sugars. A 2008 study published in the journal "Molecular Nutrition & Food Research" looked at the effects of low- and high-glycemic diets on the skin of teenage males who had acne. Sugar is a high-glycemic food because the body breaks it down into glucose more quickly, causing a large spike in your blood sugar levels. B) :( :)

Consuming sugar makes people perservere longer on difficult task, being able to focus, and more likely to delay gratification. Assuming candy is not your biggest willpower challenge, a few pieces of candy corn might keep you on track. Disadvantages of eating to much sweets is they add no nutrient to your diet, it only add to calories to your diet and nothing else. Eating to much sweets can lead to weight gain, the refined suger builds up in th blood as glucose, get stored in your body and turns into fats. Candies can lead to tooth decay due to too much bateria. Tooth decay will happen if you did not brush your teeth after eating sweets. :) :cheer:

You may find cookies, cupcakes and candy hard to resist, but your health depends on doing just that. Although most nutrition experts recommend limiting sweets and candy, about 35 percent of the calories Americans consume are empty calories -- foods that have a significant number of calories without significant nutrients -- that come from things like desserts, soda and candy. Eating more sweets and candy not only leaves less room for more nutritious choices like lean protein and vegetables, but it also sets you up for weight gain and chronic health problems.Sweets and candy generally contribute nothing more than extra calories and saturated fat to your diet. :side: :woohoo:

While a cookie here or a piece of chocolate there won’t significantly affect your weight, eating sweets and candy regularly can lead to weight gain over time. Dr. Robert Lustig, a pediatric neuroendocrinologist at the University of California San Francisco, blames sugar for the rise of obesity in America. According to Lustig, sugar increases fat storage and sends signals to the brain telling your body that you're hungry, which can lead to overeating.Overdoing it on desserts and candy can increase your risk of heart disease. High cholesterol and high triglyceride levels are two risk factors for heart disease -- the leading cause of death in America. :silly:

The sugar in sweets and candy can set you up for tooth decay, especially if you regularly eat chewy candies or suck on hard candies, which make it difficult for saliva to wash the sugar away. The bacteria that live in your mouth feed off the sugar from the sweets you eat, creating acid as a byproduct. This acid eats away at the enamel on your teeth, which increases your risk of cavities and tooth decay. If you have a yearning for all things sweet, gradually scaling back may be more beneficial than trying to quit your sugar habit cold turkey, according to Harvard Medical School.Trying to eliminate all sweets at once can cause intense cravings that eventually lead to binging.
